Coding prodigies take centre-stage

As the craze for coding increases, more and more students are gradually coming forward to learn the skill. And parents too want their kids to catch up early with the coding skills so that they are ahead of the world and ready to face the competitive world.

With the increasing awareness about the new trend, it has been proved that the young Indian minds are in no way behind the world. Many such young students have proved their mettle which leaves no doubt that India will soon become a leader in coding. These coding prodigies have now taken centre-stage and become source of inspiration for other students.

Take the example of Anvitha Vijay. She is a 9-year-old iOS developer who has several apps to her credit. She was also the youngest-ever participant at Apple’s Developers Conference. The Australian girl applied for a scholarship to travel to the conference and was one of the people Apple selected for this opportunity. As per reports, out of 350 recipients of the scholarship, 120 were under the age of 18 and 22 % were women.

Another child prodigy is Medansh Mehta, an 8-year-old boy from Mumbai, who wowed the Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, who was visiting India, with the game he created. Medansh introduced Nadella to his app “Let There Be Light” during the CEO’s meeting with students developers in India. Medansh left Nadella so impressed that the CEO included the boy in his keynote speech.

On the other hand, a 12-year-old from Toronto, Tanmay Bakshi, is going to join a list of Indo-origin kids making their presence felt across the global stage in the field of coding. Simran Singh, a 12-year-old boy, has created an app that allows a user to measure the level of algae in water. It also won him a prize at the Imagine cup conducted by Microsoft.

Taking cue from the success of these coding prodigies, HT has taken the initiative to equip the next generation with the coding skills. “HT Codeathon” has been planned as part of this initiative. It provides an opportunity for the students to learn coding skills so that they become the future coders.

Experts are of the view that India has no dearth of young talents. India is already an IT hub. And with more and more Indian students doing exceptionally well in coding, who have been recognized globally, there is no doubt that India will soon be in a position to become a leader in coding.

“Indian students are sharp and have the ability to grasp the latest technology. We definitely have some of the best brains in the country. What they need is some good quality training so that they acquire the skills. I think “HT Codeathon” will prove to be a milestone as far as skilling the students in coding in India is concerned. It will go a long way in making India a hub of future coders. It has already created a buzz as a result there is greater demand for courses related to coding,” said an expert.
